Ballaghaderreen midfielder James Kilcullen was named the Mayo Senior Football Championship Player of the Year at the eighth annual Mayo News/O’Neills Club Stars Charity Banquet in Knockranny House Hotel, Westport, Saturday 15th December.
Kilcullen beat off stiff opposition from club-mate Barry Regan and Ballintubber’s Alan Dillon to win the coveted Willie McNeely Perpetual Trophy.

Connaught Final 2012 Ballaghaderreen 0-6 vs St Brigid’s 1-12

It wasn’t to be for Ballaghaderreen in this year’s Senior Connaught Final as they lost to St. Brigid’s who won their third title in a row. In a foggy Castlebar Ballaghaderreen managed to stick with them until half time but a strong third quarter by St. Bridges set the platform for their victory.

As far as I know, Sunday will be the first time in history that two clubs from the same county meet in a provincial club football final. This will happen when Mayo champions Ballaghaderreen confront defending provincial kingpins St Brigid’s Kiltoom in the Connacht final.

Ballaghaderreen reach Connaught Final with win over Curry

This year’s Connacht Football final will be between Ballaghaderreen of Mayo and Roscommon side St Brigid’s.

St Brigid’s claimed a comfortable 0-15 to 0-08 semi-final victory over over Salthill Knocknacarra, while Ballaghderreen claimed an equally convincing win over Mayo side Curry in their encounter at MacHale Park winning 1-15 to 1-07.
